If everyone wants something to do while one putts around or watches some of the best senior golfers in the world, then the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship is the one to attend. The Senior PGA Championship has moved to its new home in Frisco, Texas. To say that everything is bigger in Texas would be an understatement. The PGA headquarters has moved in next door to the Dallas Cowboys headquarters–you can’t get much bigger than that.
During the inaugural championship, there was something for everyone. For golf enthusiasts who want to play, Fields Ranch East and Fields Ranch West are where you can book a tee time. With the latest technology, you can practice your swing in the Ice House Hitting Bays. The Dance Floor is a lighted 2-acre putting course and is one of the largest natural grass putting courses in the United States. This putting course is one of the places golfers and non-golfers can gather and enjoy a cold beverage or even an ice cream cone.
The Lounge by Topgolf houses food and drinks and has virtual games that create fun and interactive experiences. There is also a driving range, a pro shop, and the Ronny for junior golfers. If you just came for the tournament play, you can watch, eat, drink, or enjoy the beautiful scenery in a place like no other.
For those that don’t golf during the championships, you can watch world-class chefs
do great demonstrations on cooking. You can see the newest KitchenAid appliances and learn how they work. We liked the shaved ice attachment. There are plenty of comfortable seating areas to enjoy a beverage and the weather.
There is something for everyone. Unfortunately, we stayed about 5 hours and only saw a half of what was offered.
We went to the Omni PGA Frisco Resort but didn’t go in. The resort was extremely busy, so we knew we wouldn’t have anyone to tour us around, but just from the outside, it looked amazing. The valet attendant told us there were rooms, suites, and ranch houses. He wasn’t exactly sure what ranch houses were, nor were we, but it sounded terrific.
There are four pools, one of which is an adults-only rooftop infinity pool. The resort also houses a spa and 13 dining options. Each accommodation has a balcony. We are sure there is much more to the resort, but from what we have heard, you never have to leave the resort to have a great experience.
One of the things that we liked about the entire area was the space, the undeveloped land. With so many people moving to North Texas, this scene won’t last for long.
One of you wants to golf, and the other one doesn’t–head to Frisco, Texas, the new home of the PGA. You will find something that fits you. Remember “thisisyourbestyear“–we’re thinking girls’ weekend or maybe a middle-of-the-week getaway!
