About Maricia D. C. Johns

Life changes as we mature, but that’s not a bad thing.  I’m here to write about things that pertain to women who have reached a certain age, or who plan to reach a certain age.  Sometimes it will be funny, sometimes it will make you think.  It will always be informative.

I live in the Fort Worth/Dallas area, and write for the Ft. Worth Black News on such topics as lifestyle, education and just about anything else.  Some people call me wife, mom, sister, cousin, soror, professor, teacher, lifestyle consultant, soror (Zeta Phi Beta Sorority) and more, but one of my favorite names is “Honey”.  That’s the name my grandson calls me.  See I told you life does not stay the same and neither do names.  I embrace being a grandmother, but never wanted to be called “Granny”.  I embrace being a professional educator.  I embrace life, and each morning when I wake up, I thank God for all of this and more.  I hope that you will enjoy this journey.  It is my hope that you will join me, give me suggestions, tell me how you do some of the things that I write about.

This journey is not about me, it is about us.  It is about us talking, sharing, giving suggestions, just having fun because “this is your best year“.

Mrs. Gladys Square, on her 90th birthday, has inspired me to ask God each day to give me an opportunity to be kind to someone that day. Can you imagine the direction my day will take after praying such a prayer? Great to meet you Maricia at Mrs. Square’s birthday celebration.

  4. How inspiring! In a way I kind of look forward to my more mature years…when my kids are grown (not that I want them to hurry up lol) and enjoy things in a way you can’t appreciate in your 20s 🙂

It was a pleasure to meet you at DFW airport, a chance meeting at 4:30 am. I often wonder if chance meetings are chances or opportunities. As I traveled to Anguilla alone, I suppose your business card with “This is your best year” intrigued me. I am seeking and praying for joy in my life after a life changing event and health issues. I look forward to following your Blog and gaining strength and insight. Perhaps we will meet again in Ft Worth or Anguilla. May you have a most Blessed day. Betty Scott-Kneedler

    • Hello Betty, it was a joy meeting you. I really enjoyed our conversation. I had a great time in Barbados the weather was great, and the people were so friendly. As I have matured, not aged I know that every day is a blessing. I look forward to keeping in touch with you. Remember even though we have trials and tribulations “thisisyourbestyear”. Maricia
