Food For Thought

As a woman of a certain age whose parents are no longer here, I rarely go home.  It seems that when I do go and get together with family it is always for a sad occasion.  Each time we promise each other that we will get together sooner rather than later. I finally made it for a happy occasion.  My Aunt Gladys turned 90 years young, and we came together for this celebration.

As women of a certain age, we should try to get together with family just because. I know my aunt had a wonderful time.  There were five generations of her immediate family–so many that we could not get them all together to take a picture.  Remember “thisisyourbestyear”.  Enjoy your family.

What a wonderful memory for your aunt and all of you! Cherish it because the years past are greater than her remaining years, and you don’t want to look back with regrets for not having spent more time with her. You all looke beautiful!

She was truly excited. There were about 100 people there including relatives that I had not seen in a while. My mother’s cousin was there, and she is 93. It was a blessing.

I totally agree. My grandmother is 91 and I make it a priority to see her on the weekends. Although I live an hour away, the time spent with her is well worth the trip. We watch Family Feud together and she cooks turnip greens and hot water cornbread for me every time.
