Let’s Move And Try An Adventure

groupon 2It’s about to be summer, and we all wish for the same thing–we want to do something that we’ve never done before.  We want to try something new.  Well, just do it.

Cost is always a factor in what we do, and sometimes as women of a certain age, we may be on a fixed income.  There are ways that can cut the cost in just about a half or more.  Try some of the deals you find online with such sites as Groupon, Living Social. Amazon Local and more.Living Social

I absolutely love these sites, especially for trying things that I have never done, or things that I know that I only need a certain number of visits to accomplish.  They have everything from food, to hotel stays, to exercise and more.

amazon 1My girlfriends and I have gone Segway touring for half the regular cost.  We’ve gone ziplining.  I even had one for horse back riding.  I like Groupon because if something happens, and the service is cancelled for some reason, they credit your account.

While on a trip to Chicago, I did a Segway tour with another couple who told me that what they paid for two people I had paid for one person to do the tour.  They informed me that when they scheduled a trip, they always checked with these (Groupon, Living Social, Amazon Local) sites to see if there was a deal they could use.  So I have begun to do this also.  It’s really simple–when you book your trip, you then go to the site of your choice to see if there is anything that strikes your interest such as a restaurant that you would like to visit or a museum and such.  You then call to make sure you can get the reservation, then you get your deal–it saves you money, and  you can now do more on your trip.

I’ve gone to day spas, restaurants, tours, museums and more while on trips.  While at home, I’ve taken Sushi making classes, done  wine tasting, yoga, salt therapy,  kickboxing, massages and even gotten my house cleaned. My girlfriends want to go kayaking, but so far I am not the one, but who knows.

Mind and Body

As we go through life it is important that we stay active both mentally and physically.  In most cities there are things that cost very little or even some things that are free so cost should not be a huge concern when finding actives. The Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Ft.Worth, Texas is a world class museum known throughout the world. They always have their permanent collection free to the public.

This summer they are having a special showing that is free.

The special exhibition is ROMARE BEARDEN A Black Odyssey. It is truly amazing.

The museum offers free guided tours for this exhibit, headphones or you can download the app for the exhibition on your smartphone. You can’t take pictures of the special exhibitions, but you can take them of their permanent collection.

When leaving you will be given a card informing you of the special exhibition at the Arlington Museum of Art. There is a small admission charge, but it is far less than the cost of a movie.

The exhibit is WILLIAM H. JOHNSON AN AMERICAN MODERN–HARLEM RENAISSANCE.

As women of a certain age we need to expand our minds and do something different.  There are so many things that are on my I’m gonna do” list that I have not done yet, but I can cross zip lining off.

Beaumont Ranch offers a variety of zip lines, and we did them all. There is a cost, but we used a Groupon.

Pampering While Away from Home

As I always told my students “you can learn something everyday, if you just listen”.  While on my trip to Chicago, I did the Segway tour of Hyde Park, and I had the best time.  There was a very nice couple on the same tour that gave me some information that some of you might already know.

They informed me they had gotten their tickets on Groupon.  I paid $59 and they paid the same $59 for two tickets.  They said as soon as they know they are going to a certain city, they go online and see what deals they can find.  Needless to say, I learned my lesson, and took their information to heart.

While in Scottsdale, Arizona, I was able to get a 50 minute massage along with a 50 minute facial for the wonderful price of $49 at Divine Skin Spa.  You read it right.  It was well worth it.

Each time I go away with my hubby, I always try to get some sort of personal spa treatment. Now that I know this little information, I will be getting even more spa treatments and doing special things.  Some of the sites that you might want to visit are: Groupon, Living Social, Deal of the Day, Daily Deal and Crowd Pleaser.  There are probably more.  I do suggest that you call and book the appointment, then make your purchase.

Ladies and gentlemen we all know that a little pampering always helps because we know “thisisyourbestyear”.
