Rejuvenation Is A Necessity

Sometimes you just need to find a place to relax away from home.  My hubby and I have found that in Bella Vista, Arkansas.  It’s beautiful and quiet.  It gives us time to calm down from the hustle of every day life. One of my favorite places is nearby–Crystal Bridges Museum.  I truly love this museum, it is an afternoon in itself, and this time there was an Andy Warhol and Jamie Wyeth exhibit being featured. Since another couple went with us this time, we went back to Fayetteville to visit the University of Arkansas, and stumbled upon their downtown square–which was really nice.  We then found the Clinton House which is where Bill and Hillary lived while they worked at the University of Arkansas. I stood in the kitchen where Bill cooked dinner. It also features the beautiful First Ladies Garden which showcases each first lady with their favorite flower.

Remember “thisisyourbestyear”.  Sometimes you need the quiet.

Old Ladies and Crazies

I love the story in the video below.  Each Sunday morning I tape Sunday Morning on CBS to watch after church.  I started watching when Charles Kuralt was the host.  Each time he went “On the Road” in his van, it seemed that I was traveling with him.  Over the years I’ve taken road trips with family and friends–they have been some of the best adventures.  When I saw this segment on a woman of a certain age, Inda Lou Lambert Schell who was also a fan of Charles Kuralt and his favorite places from “On the Road”, I knew it would be fun to watch.

Miss Lou and her husband of over 50 years had thought about going to some of Charles Kuralt’s favorite places that he had written about in his book “Charles Kuralt’s America” which featured 12 of his favorite places in America.  As would happen Miss Lou’s husband passed away, but she was not to be deterred.  She enlisted the assistance of her sister, informed her children that she was about to spend their inheritance, and with their blessings she and her sister set out to spend a month in each of the 12 places featured in the book.  Even with her sister getting ill and having to go home, Miss Lou completed her journey, even writing a book “Revisiting America”.

As Miss Lou says “God takes care of old ladies and crazies”.  What’s your excuse for not doing something out of the norm that you have always wanted to do.  Remember “thisisyourbestyear”–God takes care of us all.

This Week

Started my week off by giving back. My church held it’s annual Rev. Jerome B. Price Scholarship Day–I am one of the committee members.  This scholarship is given to every high school senior at Carter Metroplitan CME Church who participates in church activities. Last year we had 3 young men, and this year we have 4 young ladies. Two of the  young men were able to come home and speak to the church, and the other one sent a statement to be read. The young ladies all participated in morning worship. It was a beautiful service for the memory of a beautiful man.

Later on that day I finished my planting. The flowers were already planted, but this year I also wanted to grow herbs.

Did I forget to say between all of this I cooked dinner?  Our youngest had gone to church with us so we had a wonderful time with her.

Later on I worked on a piece that my friend needs in her pursuit of being elected to the Arlington ISD school board. Trying to answer a thought-provoking question in 250 words or less is hard.

This week I will go to a Republican women’s luncheon as her surrogate to read a statement from her.  Can you believe it–me neither.

I have to go to exercise class since I didn’t make it Friday.  Hopefully he will have time to train me on Thursday too or early on Friday because I’m taking a girlfriends weekend to Austin with two of my college roommates.

There is also my professional life that needs attention too. For some reason I decided to throw something new into my classes, but I am sure it will work–maybe.

First though there is the hubby. I must make time to stop and smell the roses with him.

Life is busy, and most of the time I like it that way. Remember “thisisyourbestyear”.
