It rained and then the sun started to shine as Habitat for Humanity kicked off the 31st Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Fort Worth and Dallas. President Carter started the Fort Worth event off with a daily devotion taken from his Sunday School class in Plains, Georgia.
The event was hosted jointly by Trinity Habitat for Humanity and Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity. This is the first time two cities have gone together to host the event. President and Mrs. Carter joined over 5,000 volunteers to help build or repair more than 100 homes in seven days. Volunteers came from all walks of life. For some it was their first time and for others it was something they do many times a year. Two regulars Garth Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood were making one of their many trips. The Dallas Cowboys came out to serve lunch to the volunteers. Among the Cowboys was Jason Witten and Brandon Carr.
It was a wonderful, happy occasion. Remember “thisisyourbestyear”.
