My good friend and I decided the rainy weather was not going to keep us from enjoying “Free Day” in the Cultural District in Ft.Worth. We had 10 places to select from.
We started our day at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, then continued on to the Kimbell Art Museum, and ended with the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Even in the rain there were others enjoying the day.
We ended our wonderful day at Max’s Wine Dive enjoying wonderful food, good wine, good service and most of all good conversation.
Every city has some wonderful events that are free or cost very little. As a woman of a certain age I am always watching my money. Even while watching my money I am on the lookout for something fun to do–something different. This week in Fort Worth, Texas you can visit the venues in the cultural district for FREE.
Fort Worth has some of the best museums in the national. Go by yourself, take someone with you, go by yourself, go by yourself….Get out of the house and enjoy yourself. There are so many things that women of a certain age can do all alone or with someone. Why not take that child and/or grandchild to the cultural district–you can have a teaching moment without really trying.
Take a look at your city and see what’s going on and enjoy.
As women of a certain age we know about aging, but we also know that age is just a number. Take a look at this link from More Magazine on anti-aging tips.
Let’s share some of our own anti-aging tips with each other. We want our friends to look and feel good too–don’t we? What are some of your anti-aging tips?
Today I revisited two places that I have told you about before. The first place I went back to was Aria Salt Therapy Center for my second session. This time I was in a semiprivate room. I do think that the treatments help with sinus and allergy problems. I have not had the sneezing episodes that I previously had. My absolute favorite part of the entire experience is the zero gravity massage chair. It is awesome–soft music, zero gravity and dim lights. Do I need to say more? It is a wonderful experience.
Then I was off to the The Virgin Olive Oiler to get a refill of Organic Butter Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Durango Smoke Flavored Salt. I love both of these products. You can use these products on a variety of foods. **You can use them to make the best baked potatoes. Nothing else but a little freshly ground pepper is needed. While there I did purchase a Rosemary Flavored Salt. to try.
**Recipe for the best darn baked potatoes. Use whatever type of white potatoes you prefer. Scrub them–don’t wash, scrub them. After scrubbing the potatoes, pierce them many, many times with a fork. Then take the Organic Extra Virgin Butter Olive Oil and rub it all over the potato making sure you cover it well. Sprinkle with the Durango Salt and freshly ground pepper. Wrap in foil and bake on 375 until done. If you want the skin crispy then uncover the potatoes for the last ten minutes or you can bake uncovered the entire time. You can eat the entire thing.
Another way to do it without using foil. Follow the washing instructions then slice the potatoes, but not all the way through–you want them to look like an accordian. Drizzle with the Organic Extra Virgin Butter Olive Oil, sprinkle with the Durango Salt and freshly ground pepper then bake in a 400 degree oven until done. So much better than french fries.
Take time to visit these two wonderful places. You can visit them online at: www.ariasalt.com and www. and www.thevirginoliveoiler.com.
As an educator, mother of two and a woman of a certain age this article by John Savage caught my attention. As a parent whose children attended what is considered a poor achool district, Everman Independent School District, I know that money is not the end all. I know that my children were prepared to go on to higher education by wonderful caring teachers and staff. I also know they had two hard working parents who worked with the school and also educated them outside of the classroom. Take a look at this article written by a teacher who seemed to care. What are your feelings on this subject?
Remember “thisisyourbestyear”. The children are our future.

Take time to read his interesting article.
There is life after. Really there is; just ask Marcia Clark–you know the one. It seems Ms. Clark has found a way to mix together her training as an attorney and her passion as a writer and come out stronger than before with her thriller series of novels featuring prosecutor Rachel Knight. Who would have thought it?
Ms. Clark was recently in Keller, Texas for two events where she discussed and answered questions about her novels. Yes, there were questions about other things, but I was most interested in her reinvention–life after.
She did not disappoint. Her discussion at the Keller public library was entertaining and informative. She took the time to sign books, talk with patrons and she seemed to enjoy the afternoon.
Sometimes we get stuck in the past, but there is life after. Remember “thisisyourbestyear”.
How old are you? You will be surprised. I am younger!! Take this short quiz to find your true age.
Happy Grandparents Day from Honey and Honey’s baby.
Kisses and hugs on your day. Remember “thisisyourbestyear”. Enjoy!
Walked to my monthly Weight Watchers meeting and afterwards decided to do a nice quiet, relaxing Weight Watchers conscious lunch with someone special–Myself also also known as Me.
Sitting by the window watching new construction in downtown Fort Worth at Reata, one of my favorite restaurants is a nice way to enjoy lunch.
Now I can finish my office hours. Try to give yourself some of your time. Forty minutes can make all the difference. Sometimes there is no need to have a conversation. Remember ” thisisyourbestyear”.
God has given you a new week. What are you going to do with it? Take time to hear Him and He will guide you. Remember “thisisyourbestyear”.
