Getting Ready for the Day

As women we tend to think that we have to be all to everyone.  We sometimes, well most of the time tend to forget that we must take care of ourselves.

It is so important that we start the day in a way that allows us to be at our best.  Let’s talk about routines that keep us in the right frame of mind.

I find that starting the day with prayer is one of the best things that help me.  No matter how little sleep I’ve gotten, I wake up thanking God for the new day.  After doing all the morning things like brushing teeth, washing face and putting on the coffee  (yes, I have to have my coffee), I do a series of stretches to get the body warmed up.

A daily devotional is a must for me.  I’m now reading “Through the Year with Jimmy Carter–366 Daily Meditations from the 39th President”.  I read my devotional with a cup of coffee.  Then I have something for breakfast.

Usually I will watch the local news and weather to start my day.  I only watch about 10 minutes of the morning shows just to see what is going on in the world.  They tend to not be news, but opinions, and there is no need to get upset that early in the morning so why watch.  Don’t start your day with negativity.

I believe that I need to laugh before I leave for work so I turn on something that makes me laugh which is usually a rerun of some sitcom.  After I have laughed, I’m on my way hopefully to a good day.  Start your day with a smile.

How do you start your day?

Remember “Thisisyourbestyear”, and have a good week.

I found this post to be thought provoking! Actually,I have two Awakenings!
    First Awakening:
For the last 17yrs,I arise around 5:30 to 6:30 am_to see my husband off to work.It is a “Life Necessity” to give my love one a hug & kiss and say a silent prayer for a safe journey to work and back.I crash immediately_as more than likely I’ve been up until 1 or 2-ish,watching a movie, reading a book, computer stuff, etc.

Second Awakening_around 10:30am or later(since I’m retired) or depending upon what needs to be done that day. When I open my eyes_my silent words are”Good Morning Dear Lord”.Then after grooming,etc..I make a cup of tea and read my Daily Word_been a subscriber since college days(1960’s).There is always something good to get me going on the day’s journey! Since we live on a farm_the antics of the squirrels, songbirds & cats provides my morning smile or robust laughter when the cat chases the squirrels..pure bliss!

My alternate routine(2x’s a week)_is sitting Zen Monk style in meditation with the music of Tibetan Monks chanting softly in the background.I use my Chakra Chimes for healing and the meditation ritual.I feel refreshed and READY to meet the challenges of the day.I especially like this routine when Texas Torandoes have rattled my nerves.

I’ve been doing both of these routines for many, many years.I find that it keeps me grounded, stress free & worry free. Thanks for the thought-provoking moment, keep up the good work!
    ~Namaste,Pam~

Girl, you are too much like me. I am all about being stress free and living my best life. I know that I can’t go back in time so I just live and love the days ahead. There are little things that I have to tweek, but that is what this blog is all about. Thanks for the comment.
